Four New Organic Cotton Flaxseed Pillows and Pillow Giveaway

We had a rush on our Organic cotton Flaxseed neck pillows for Mother's Day. Some of our fabrics sold out, so we have added four new types and will be adding one or two more soon. The first two are sheep (top) and penguin (below) Organic cotton flannels. These are single layer pillows. I usually don't go for cartoon animals, but I found these irresistible. I thought the sheep would be fun for people who like to take their pillows to bed or who have trouble sleeping. We are partial to penguins, they being the Linux operating system mascot, so this fabric was a must have also.

The two pillows below are also new, they are part of our pillow line which has removable washable Organic cotton covers. 

The floral print is also available with pink instead of turquoise flowers.

New Lavender and Flaxseed Microwavable Heat Packs

Cupcakes seem to be all the rage lately so I couldn't resist this fun print.

I have lots of new Flaxseed Microwave Heat Packs in my shop this week. I've been gearing up for the holidays, as these have been popular gifts for the last few years.  It's about time to order more Organic herbs from Mountain Rose for these pillows, so I can start a (hopefully) final round of sewing for 2012.  It is always such a pleasure to receive a shipment of such powerfully fragrant herbs in the mail.

Coming of Age Gift Ideas and Remedies for Young Women

Celebrating womanhood to me is about celebrating the coming of age for pre-teen and teenage girls. Many traditional cultures have rituals or ceremonies for girls at coming of age. However you choose to honor a young woman at this stage her her life, you may wish to offer something practical for the physical and emotional changes she may be experiencing.

Warm heat can help to relax the uterus to prevent cramping pain. These flax and lavender wraps are great for relieving cramps when heated in the microwave.



No microwave? This warming pain relief balm is also great for reducing pain from cramping. Both of these are all natural pain relief methods that may help avert a cycle of Ibuproferin, Advil or Motrin use which can be hard on the Liver.

Another natural remedy I like for emotional issues around menstruation is Leonurus cardiaca AKA Motherwort. Motherwort is exceptionally helpful for balancing emotional issues in women such as anxiety or irritability, whether related to PMS or menopause. It also helps smooth the menstrual flow for uterine cramping. For heavy bleeding or pregnancy this herb should be avoided. This is a picture of one of my Motherwort plants from this winter season. It likes the Central Florida Winter Weather. I have been making Motherwort tincture with these plants and will have it available in the Extracts Section of my Etsy shop later this month. Sea Salt Soaps Make a Great Gift For Teens

The other day my friend and her son came over for a minute to say hi. Her teen aged son popped his head in to see if Tessa was around. Without much though I said "You look great!" I didn't quite know what it was, but my friend said about her son "It's the soap." Well my memory is not so perfect since I had Tessa, but it did come back to me that I had given her one of these salt soaps to give to him. And wow it was his skin that had cleared up, which was what I had noticed when he came in. She posted this on my facebook profile page:

"An amazing product!! Very gentle however incredibly effective. For several years my son had acne that was incredibly painful, within 3 wks of every other day use his skin is clear and the pore size is far reduced. Never be without it again :)."

You can always find my sea salt soaps at my facial soaps section on etsy. All my salt soaps are nearly 50% sea salt and are specially heat processed. The end product is a unique exceptionally hard, but gentle soap.
