Three New Vegan Friendly Formulas

We have recently modified three of our long time formulas to make them vegan. We have thoroughly tested the new formulas and feel they are equal to or better than the previously recipes. First, our Sesame Aloe shampoo bar (above). This shampoo is specially formulated for those with very dry, flaky or sensitive scalp. The lather is a bit milder than our other shampoo bars, but it is still big compared to a body soap an other "shampoo bars" we have tried from other companies. It gets the job done with no SLS or synthetic ingredients.

Next we have had requests to increase the Frankincense concentration in our Frankincense and Myrrh Solid Perfume recipe. This solid perfume now has a higher ratio of Frankincense to Myrrh, and also includes Candelilla Wax instead of Beeswax.

Lastly, we shortened the tongue twisting Lavender Tea Tree Eucalyptus Lip balm to "Tea Tree Eucalpytus Lip Balm." There is still Lavender in this recipe together with menthol to sooth and cool blistered and sore lips. We have replaced the beeswax from the former recipe with Candelila wax and Castor oil, which helps the lips retain moisture. Our lip balm line is now 100% vegan friendly.

Plastic Free The Book, Twitter Party and Giveaways

Beth Terry of MyPlasticFreeLife.com has published a new book called "Plastic Free How I kicked the habit and you can too." Beth has previously reviewed my Cinnamon Tooth Powder on her blog and I hear she has mentioned my deodorant in her new book.  I haven't read her book yet, but I would love to learn all her tips and trips.  In support of her new book and cause I am donating one of my slide tin lip balms the upcoming #ecoetsy/ #plasticfreebeth twitter party which will be hosted by the EcoEtsy Team Monday June 25th from 9-10 pm EST.  Search #plasticfreebeth in twitter Monday night to follow along with the party.  Beth will be giving away one of her books and there will be other prizes from the EcoEtsy Team like these lovely reusable silk bags for bulk foods from kootsac.

Also if you can't make it to the chat, be sure at least to check out Beth Terry's talk on TED.  I had not seen her talk until recently, and I found it very inspiring.  After watching it I decided to do something that I have been wanting to do for a long time, which is switch over to paper tape for packing orders.  It was more than I was used to spending on tape, because it comes by the case and has to be shipped.  I'm still a little nervous about using a tape that has to be moistened first, but I'm looking forward to it.  Big thanks to Anne Nguyen of Shanti Aromatherapy and Daytona Etsy Team Member for switching over to paper tape with me.  She and I co-oped together to stock up on it and split up a case.

Custom Party Favor Soaps for Weddings and Parties

It's wedding season, and I'm excited to show of this batch of mini soaps that I just delivered last week for a bridal shower. I made 40 of these soaps for a garden-themed bridal shower. They were castile bars colored sage green with French Green Clay and scented with Lavender and Spearmint Essential oil. What a treat. The bars were also stamped with Dragonflies also, one of my favorite insects.

I even had a few bars left because of the way that my mold is shaped. So the bride got a surprise large bar, and I have a few in my Etsy shop also.

If you would like a special batch of soaps for your upcoming event I would be happy to work with you. I need a one month lead time to prepare and cure the soaps when working with in stock materials. For specialty scents or custom stamps, I need an additional 2-3 weeks.

If you want to go all out, how about matching lip balms too? These Sweet Orange lip balms are the result of a 50 batch for another event earlier this month. I made them for a Women's Conference in South Florida and added "Handmade in Florida" by request. I can certainly customize labels with Bride and Groom names and dates as well. You can find more of these lip balms and other flavors at my etsy shop.

Weekend Production Streak: New Veggie Soaps, Balms & Perfumes

I had an extra looong weekend which started on Wednesday. It was so nice to be home working on restocking and making new products. First here is a little peak of what is put up to cure for December. The white soap at the top of the blog is a Lavender essential oil veggie soap. I used the same veggie oil formula that I use for my pumpkin poppy seed soap. That soap has a lot of repeat purchases and raves about it's very creamy and bubbly lather. So I decided it was time to make a few more soaps with this oil combo. Yesterday I also made a batch of veggie patchouli soap. I just cut it this morning. It has a pretty in the pot swirl made with cocoa powder as a contrasting natural colorant.

Rosemary mint was the second batch that I made yesterday. I decided to practice my bicolor layering, because I had a special request for 100 bilayer soaps over the weekend. Most of these green clay top layer soaps were perfect, but a couple like this one had a little dip into the white. Good thing I had a practice run. It's been a little while since I've made layered soaps.

Okay enough of what is curing and not ready to ship. I also made and listed some lip balms and perfumes over my long weekend. I was getting low on Sweet Orange and Licorice lip balms, so those are back in stock. Also brand new I have a Lavender Sweet Orange Lip balm. This is my first vegan lip balm made with Candelilla wax instead of Beeswax.

In the perfume department I added a single note Jasmine sambac perfume to the mix. It is strongly aromatic and long lasting.

A couple of more perfumes I actually added last week but haven't posted about yet, so I will mention them as well. The first is a single note Fine French Lavender essential oil roll on Perfume. The highly volatile Lavender is anchored with a small amount of vanilla-like Benzoin.

The second is a Spearmint roll on perfume also with Benzoin. The natural green comes from herbal Isatis tinctoria powder and alfalfa.

Lastly this beautiful Mandarin perfume is colored naturally with annatto seed and is a blend of Mandarin, Sweet Orange, Litsea, and Patchouli essential oils.
