Plastic Free July Beach Clean up - July 8 Andy Romano Park

Aquarian Bath is celebrating Plastic Free July by hosting a Beach Clean up at Andy Romano Park: 839 S Atlantic Ave, Ormond Beach, FL 32176. We chose the Sunday the 8th of July, because there is usually a lot of post-holiday firework plastic litter on the beaches right after the 4th of July. To join the clean up, arrive at Andy Romano Park by 9:00 AM. All you need are some gardening gloves. We'll pick up for about 45 minutes and then meet back at the park to check out what we found and take a few pictures to promote Plastic Free July.

Aquarian Bath is a Daytona Beach company, which sells plastic free bath and body products. Aquarian Bath will have a free shampoo bar for the first 25 participating households at the beach clean up event

Plastic Free July is an annual challenge in which participants are encouraged to refuse single use plastics such as straws and cups for a week or up to a whole month of July. Take the Plastic Free July challenge and sign up here: http://www.plasticfreejuly.org

The alternate date for this event in case of lightning or thunder is Sunday July 15th. You can RSVP for this event and invite friends on the Facebook event page.

Best Photos from Leu Gardens in Orlando

I have been meaning to go to Leu Gardens in Orlando for a long time. Monday we finally had a good opportunity, since we also had to make a trip to Sky Craft for hardware parts for a SolarNetone project, and the first Monday of the month is also free at Leu Gardens. We took pictures until the battery died on the phone, but here are some of my favorites.  The pohots are either of my favorite garden displays or just the best photos from the batch that I took. I hope you enjoy them, and find they inspire you to go visit. The photos that I saw online previously didn't really give me a good idea of what I would find there, for example a small but unique Bonsai Garden, a Butterfly garden, a Citrus grove, a vegetable garden, a rose garden, and flower clock. I posted other photos of roses and bamboo at my Aquarian Bath twitter and personal google+ accounts.

St. Patty's Day at the City Island Market in Daytona Beach

I have a new event on my March schedule. You can look for me at the Dayton Beach City Island farmer's market on Saturday March 13th from 8-12 for the St. Patty's Day Celebration.

Get your “green” on at the Downtown Farmers Market at our St. Patty’s Day at the Market event.

FEATURING Glas Tara School of Irish Dance. Search for ye pot-o-gold (treasure hunt) and join in other activities just grand for ol’ leprechauns and wee people. Gain the gift of hyperbole by kissing the one and only Daytonay-Balongay Stone.

“Wander ye well on the World's Most Famous Beach
Then on the Daytonay stone ye shall feel the heat!
‘Tis the stone that whomever kisses gains the gift of blather
Ye shall not want for words to utter; thy equal is no other.
Every maid and gent shall marvel at the tales ye shall tell
Ye shall not lie nor concoct; ye shall embellish well.
‘Tis fruitless to evade the harvest or contend a life alone
Thy devotees of green, increase and smile— for ye have kissed the Daytonay-Balognay Stone.“

Some vendors will include well known locals like NCL Farms local organically grown produce, kimchi and more; Ocie’s Gourmet homemade preserves, local honey and eggs; Atomic Mama’s homemade baked goods and wholesale fruits and nuts; Salsa King; and Deep Creek Ranch “beyond organic” beef and lamb.

I will be sure to have plenty of my Dark Stout soap made with Guinness Beer on hand, but don't be shy about putting in pre-orders ahead of time either.

Admission is free.

The Downtown Farmers Market is every Saturday morning and is located in the City Island Parking lot near 105 E Magnolia Avenue in downtown Daytona Beach. For more information contact the Daytona Beach Partnership Association at 386-258-8150.

You can RSVP on with your Facebook calender for this event. Visit my local events page for all upcoming local events and classes and consider joining my mailing list for event reminders.
